# Until > Until is a Git-backed, plan-driven workflow for builders and their coding agents, like Claude Code, Cursor and Codex. It runs locally, in your own Git repo. There's no Until server, no account and no telemetry. Until is in early access. People can join the waitlist at https://until.dev or apply for early access at https://until.dev/early-access. The early access group is small and picked by hand, so applying doesn't mean getting in straight away. ## What Until is for Coding agents are fast, and they will happily make every decision for you. Each decision an agent makes is one you stop understanding. Review becomes the bottleneck, and your attention becomes the limit. Until keeps the decisions with you. Your agents do the jobs; you make the calls. You review the Plan, not the diff. ## How it works 1. **Plan.** You and your agent draft a Plan: the outcome, the approach, and what's out of scope. 2. **Review.** You send the Plan to a teammate, who approves it or sends it back with comments. This is where your attention goes, because it's where the decisions are. 3. **Build.** Approval releases the Jobs. Your agents claim them, leave handoff notes as they go, and ask you when a call is yours to make. 4. **Check.** An agent review compares the code with the approved Plan and lists every place they differ. ## Words Until uses - **Ticket:** an outcome you want. - **Plan:** how a Ticket gets done: the outcome, the approach and what's out of scope. It's reviewed before any work starts. - **Task:** a step a person does. - **Job:** a step one agent finishes in one session. - **Handoff note:** what an agent leaves when it finishes a Job, so the next person or agent can pick up. Tickets, Tasks and Jobs are stored in the Git repo you're already working in. ## Agents Until works with the coding agent you already use: Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Pi, Factory Droid, Amp, OpenCode and more. Any agent that can run a command works. Several agents can work from the same list of Jobs, and anything that needs a person lands in one place. ## The untl command Until's command-line tool is `untl`. For agents working in a repo that uses Until: - `untl brief`: prints the instructions for planning and working on Tickets, Tasks and Jobs. Run it first and follow what it prints. - `untl brief JOB`: the brief for one Job. - `untl job ready`: the Jobs an agent can claim. - `untl dashboard --json`: what's waiting on a person, such as reviews and questions. - `untl whoami --json`: who you are in Until. - `untl` on its own opens the interactive dashboard in a terminal. The instructions come from the installed `untl`, so they always match its commands. ## Links - [Until](https://until.dev): what Until is, and the waitlist - [Apply for early access](https://until.dev/early-access) - [Privacy policy](https://until.dev/privacy) - [Until on 𝕏](https://x.com/untldev) - [Until on LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/company/untildev/)
